Condition Guide
Every item on X Football is graded using our six-tier condition system. Here's exactly what each grade means — so you know what to expect before you buy or list.
Brand New with Tags
Unworn. Original tags attached.
The item has never been worn and retains all original tags — club hang tag, size label, and any manufacturer tags. Completely free of creases, odours, marks, and signs of washing.
Expect
- All original tags present and attached
- No signs of washing or ironing
- Colours and prints fully vibrant
- Original poly-bag or packaging if applicable
Not acceptable
- Any marks, stains, or odours
- Faded prints or cracked badges
- Removed or missing tags
Brand New Without Tags
Unworn. Tags removed.
Never worn but tags have been cut or removed. Otherwise identical in condition to BNWT — no marks, fading, or signs of use whatsoever.
Expect
- Pristine fabric with no signs of wear
- Vibrant, unfaded colours
- No creases from wearing
- May have slight packaging or storage fold marks
Not acceptable
- Original hang tags (removed by definition)
- Any marks, stains, or odours
Excellent
Worn once or twice. Near-perfect.
Worn on only one or two occasions. May have been washed once. The item looks as good as new to the naked eye with no visible flaws under normal inspection.
Expect
- Fully intact prints and badges
- Clean with no marks or stains
- May have very faint, microscopic wash fade
- All buttons, zips, and details functional
Not acceptable
- Any visible marks, pilling, or fading
- Worn collars, cuffs, or hems
Very Good
Clearly worn. Well cared for.
Has been worn and washed multiple times but shows only very minor evidence of use. Still presents exceptionally well and would not look out of place as a display piece.
Expect
- Minor light wash fade on deep colours
- Small pilling or fluffing on high-friction areas
- Very minor, easily missed imperfections
Not acceptable
- Visible stains, marks, or holes
- Significant fading or cracking prints
- Missing or damaged badges
Good
Visible signs of wear. Structurally sound.
Clearly pre-owned with noticeable evidence of wear and washing, but the item remains in solid, wearable condition with no damage. Honest pricing is expected at this grade.
Expect
- Visible fading, particularly on dark colours
- Light cracking or wear on printed text
- Collar, cuffs, or hem may show wear
- Possible small marks or stains clearly disclosed
Not acceptable
- Holes, tears, or structural damage
- Overwhelming or undisclosed staining
- Broken zips or missing buttons
Fair
Heavy wear. Significant imperfections.
Shows significant evidence of heavy use, age, or storage. Still functional and wearable, but all flaws must be clearly photographed and disclosed. Priced accordingly.
Expect
- Significant fading or colour loss
- Cracked, peeling, or heavily worn printing
- Marks, stains, or small holes clearly disclosed
- May have discolouration or storage marks
Not acceptable
- Any undisclosed defects
- Items with holes or damage that affect wearability without disclosure
Player Worn / Match Worn
Worn in training or competitive match.
Player Worn items have been worn by a named professional player in training or a warm-up. Match Worn items were worn during a competitive fixture. These are collector-tier items requiring photographic evidence and, where possible, provenance documentation.
Expect
- Clear evidence of game or training use (sweat marks, grass stains may be present)
- Player nameplate or squad number printed or sewn
- Provenance: photo evidence and letter of authenticity where available
- Condition disclosed honestly — defects are expected and acceptable
Not acceptable
- A pristine, unworn appearance (counter to the grade)
Required Photos (Sellers)
Front
Full-length front of the item on a plain background.
Back
Full-length back. Include number/nameset if present.
Tag close-up
Brand label and size tag. Confirms authenticity and stated size.
Defect detail
Any mark, stain, fade, or wear — close-up, in natural light.
Concealing defects with cropped or misleading photos is a violation of X Football's seller policy and may result in listing removal, refund liability, or account suspension.
Common Questions
What does BNWT mean?
BNWT stands for Brand New with Tags. The item has never been worn and still has its original club or brand tags attached. There are no creases, marks, odours, or signs of washing.
What is the difference between BNWT and BNWOT?
BNWT (Brand New with Tags) has all original tags still attached. BNWOT (Brand New Without Tags) means the item has never been worn but the tags have been removed — otherwise it is in the same pristine condition.
Can sellers set their own condition grades?
Yes. Sellers choose the grade at listing time from our standardised six-tier system. X Football's verification team reviews listings and may request additional photos or adjust grades that do not match the listing images.
What photos are required to prove condition?
All listings must include front and back shots, a close-up of the brand or club tag, and a clear photo of any defects or signs of wear. Hiding defects with misleading photos is grounds for listing removal and account suspension.
What counts as Player Worn or Match Worn?
A Player Worn shirt has been worn by a named professional player in training or warm-up. A Match Worn shirt was worn in a competitive fixture. Both grades require photo evidence and — where available — provenance documentation such as a letter of authenticity.
